The well-equipped kitchen/dining area takes up the end third of the space. From here a pair of half-glazed french doors opens on to a large, private terrace overlooking our vines and vegetable garden with uninterrupted views of delightful rolling hills. The rest of the chapel is equipped as a living area with two comfortable sofas, writing desk and bookshelves as well as a wood-burning stove for colder weather. The photos below show another view of the main living area and the kitchen area in detail.
The former sacristy at the back of the chapel has been made into a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom. The chapel is attached to our own house but walls over a metre thick assure good sound insulation. Moreover, the chapel and its garden face in the opposite direction to our own living spaces thus assuring privacy. The photos below show the bedroom and a detail of the bathroom:
The kitchen of La Pieve is fully equipped with utensils and crockery, together with a supply of basic cooking ingredients (salt, peppercorns, vinegar, chillies, etc., and fresh herbs in the garden). There is a high -quality Smeg gas oven and hob, fridge, stainless-steel sink unit and a water purification plant.
We're also happy to provide you with any ingredients from our own kitchen - juniper berries, bicarbonate of soda, bay leaves, cloves, etc., - that you may not consider worth buying in any quantity. We can also lend you such things as cake tins, snail dishes, chicken bricks or sweetcorn forks should you really need them.
The mattress on the 190 x 160 cm bed is firm and of a high quality. The bed will already be made up for you with cotton sheets and a quilt in cooler weather. There are a wardrobe and chest of drawers in the bedroom. There is also a hair-dryer. The bathroom has a large shower with a splendid mosaic floor and is supplied with unlimited hot water. The chapel has full gas central heating for colder months and a wood-burning stove for which we supply logs. La Pieve has free wireless 2MB broadband. There is a washing machine and freezer in the main house which you are welcome to use whenever you want. Electric current is 220 V/50~AC, as in the UK. The chapel is equipped with a CD player; it also has an AUX IN so you can plug in your music device (we can lend you the right cable). You are welcome to borrow CDs from our eclectic collection. You are also welcome to borrow books from our well-stocked library. If you are staying for more than a week, we will change your bed linen at a time which is convenient to you.
